Apple has added their own system-wide actions to the function keys, which makes them inconvenient to use in an application. Other default keyboard shortcuts use the function keys (F1-F12, or F1-F19 on the numeric keypad version). Rather than completely eliminating these shortcuts, we thought it best to leave them in, making them available for those who can take advantage of them. For example, View > Undo View Change is mapped to the Home key, but that key does not exist on laptop keyboards. If I were in Windows, I would use AutoHotkey to achieve this. Strangely, plugging in a PC keyoard in the mac, RightAlt+8 and RightAlt+9 outputs square parentesis ( ) works but to input brackets does not. In a PC Keyboard, is RightAlt+7 and RightAlt+0. In my specific case, since I am portuguese, the brackets keys (. they're all PC Keyboards! Yes, I know, Option Key can be used as the Alt key modifier, and the Cmd Key can be used as the Windows (forget the publicity!) key. I wanna reuse my old keyboards put aside. Nor a monitor specific for the Mac! I wouldn't wanna spend 100 bucks to get the quirks for the mac stuff. I've bought the new Mac Mini M2! And I don't have the mac magic keyobard.
